STAC BOYS SOCCER: SETON CATHOLIC KNOCKS OFF OWEGO, 4-1 (2025-09-16)
Tioga County Sports ReportBINGHAMTON — Seton Catholic built a 2-0 halftime lead on, then fended off a second-half Owego comeback effort on its way to a 4-1 win here Tuesday night in STAC boys soccer action.
"This was our most complete performance of the season," said Owego coach Alessio DeMichele. "The result doesn’t reflect the competitiveness of the game.
"The boys showed an improved understanding of what we try to build, but most importantly they were fierce competitors today," he noted.
"Liam Bell and Benny Mikels were outstanding tonight.
"It feels like we still are getting punished by every individual mistake," added DeMichele. "I think we can still be more of a threat in the attacking third."
About 10 minutes after the intermission, Benny Mikels was fouled in the box, and Owen Hallenbeck converted the penalty kick to close the gap to 2-1.
However, Seton Catholic answered a few minutes later, and added an insurance goal later in the game to provide the final margin.
Owego, now 1-6, hosts Norwich Thursday night.
