STAC GIRLS SOCCER: DALTON, TURSHMAN LEAD OWEGO TO 4-0 WIN OVER SETON CATHOLIC (2025-09-15)
Tioga County Sports ReportOWEGO — Junior Ashlyn Dalton scored a pair of goals, and the Owego defense was stellar in a 4-0 win over Seton Catholic here Monday night in STAC Central Division girls soccer action.
"We had a huge Class A win tonight against Seton," said Owego coach Katelyn Simpson.
"Kendra Turshman got her first shutout of the season.
"Our defense of Kayla Casterline, Leah Clark, Bekah Curley, Taylor Signs and Jenna McEvoy played absolutely outstanding tonight, contributing to the shutout," added Simpson.
Just two minutes into the game, Dalton attempted to beat the keeper 1-v-1, but was taken down resulting in a penalty kick. Dalton delivered the PK to make it 1-0.
Dalton also scored the River Hawks' second goal on "a 1-touch shot from a beautiful ball over the top" from Kira Coppage.
Owego made it 3-0 when Dalton was taken down on a breakaway just outside the box, and Coppage drilled a direct kick into the net.
The last goal came from Savannah Henry, who followed up a shot deflection with a "beautiful shot" to make it 4-0.
Kendra Turshman recorded four saves in net for the clean sheet.
Owego had a 12-4 advantage in shots-on-goal.
Owego, now 2-3, returns to action Wednesday at Norwich.
