IAC GIRLS SOCCER: NOTRE DAME BLANKS SVEC, 3-0 (24 PHOTOS) (2025-09-15)

CANDOR — MK Young scored a pair of goals to lead Notre Dame to a 3-0 win over SVEC here Monday afternoon in IAC South Large School Division girls soccer action.

"It feels like the story of the season has been that the final score doesn’t fully feel like it represented the game at hand," said SVEC coach Michael Leljedal. "Today felt the same, we held control for large portions of that game and, unfortunately, couldn’t finish any of our chances.

"Credit to Notre Dame because when given the opportunities they did convert.

"Every game has been a game of steps," noted Leljedal. "Coach Decker and I feel like the improvement through every game is evident and the results are going to start pouring in shortly. 

"We’ve got 2 more games this week and we’re eager to turn in good performances and come out of the week with two wins," he added.

Young scored midway through the first half, and the Crusaders led 1-0 at the intermission.

Young scored again 2 1/2 minutes into the second half, and Jenai Spencer added an insurance goal with 17 minutes left in the contest.

ND had a 10-9 edge in shots-on-goal, and both teams had three corner kicks in the contest.

Alexandra Lyon and Meradyth Stouffer combined for seven of SVEC's nine shots.

Alaina Yerer recorded six saves in net for the Eagles.

SVEC, now 1-4, returns to action Wednesday at Edison.
