IAC GIRLS SOCCER: T-BURG RALLIES TO EDGE SVEC, 2-1 (2025-09-12)

TRUMANSBURG — SVEC scored midway through the first half and led for nearly 40 minutes, but Trumansburg scored a pair of second-half goals, including the game-winner with 2 1/2 minutes remaining to pull out a 2-1 win here Friday in IAC crossover girls soccer action.

We’re really proud of how the girls fought tonight," said SVEC coach Michael Leljedal. "We led for a good portion of the game, and I thought the girls put in their best game of the season. 

"It was really nice to see the things we’ve been stressing in practice finally find its way into the game," he noted. "I felt like that game could’ve gone either way, but credit to Trumansburg they put away two goals in the back half of the game to get the win. 

"It's definitely a heartbreaker and losing is never a good feeling, but we have to take the positives away from tonight and there are plenty. 

"The girls finally saw what they were capable of tonight and we have a great opportunity (Saturday) against Odessa-Montour to show what were made of," added Leljedal. "It’s going to be an incredibly tough game playing 14 hours after an intense game like this, but they can do it. They’re hungry for their first win."

Alexandra Lyon scored off a feed from Kaylyn Greg with 18:16 remaining in the first half, and led 1-0 until T-Burg tied the game with 20:20 remaining in the contest.

Olivia Scherer netted the game-winner for the Blue Raiders with 2:31 remaining.

SVEC had a 14-12 edge in shots-on-goal, while T-Burg had a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

Alan Eerier recorded eight saves in net for the Eagles.

SVEC, now 0-3, hosts O-M Saturday at 11 a.m. at Candor High School.
