SECTION IV FIELD HOCKEY: POWERHOUSE WHITNEY POINTS ROLLS TO 8-0 WIN OVER SVEC (2025-09-10)
Tioga County Sports ReportWHITNEY POINT — Powerhouse Whitney Point scored four goals in the second quarter on its way to an 8-0 win over SVEC here Wednesday afternoon in Section IV field hockey action.
"I think there was a lot of learning that happened tonight for us," said SVEC coach Abby Gentile.
"It is always tough to play a team like Whitney Point that has dominated Section IV field hockey, but we were able to move the ball down the field at times," noted Gentile. "We were able to get shots and corners, which is an improvement from previous years against them.
"More than half of my team has never played a team of that caliber and we showed grit," she added. "We never stopped working and I appreciate all the effort this team is willing to give."
Colleen Hildebrandt put the Golden Eagles on the board about a minute into the game.
With 1:56 left in the opening stanza, Aniah Huston scored to make it 2-0.
In the second quarter, Whitney Point scored four times in a five-minute span to take a 6-0 lead into the halftime intermission.
Sadee Short scored a pair of goals, while Kylan Smith and Mackenzie Harvey each added one goal.
Addison Feathers scored a pair of goals in the third quarter to round out the scoring.
Kaylee Kastenhuber and Sophie Sunday combined for 23 saves in the cage for SVEC.
SVEC, now 3-2, returns to action Monday at Aston-Harpursville.
