CORTLAND — Hartwick College, featuring Candor grads Shelby Swartz and Braelyn Hornick, and Owego grad Sophia Palladino, went 1-2 over the week in non-league volleyball action at SUNY Cortland.

Hornick, who is out with an injury, did not play.

Cortland 3, Hartwick 0
Cortland swept the match by scores of 25-6, 25-16 and 25-19.

Palladino had 7.5 service points, seven kills, one block and one dig in the loss, while Swartz had four points, four kills, and eight digs.

Hartwick 3, Rochester 2
Hartwick won the first set 25-13, but Rochester bounced back in the second set to win 25-11. Hartwick answered with a 25-20 win in the third set, but Rochester responded with a 25-17 win in the fourth set.

The Hawks won the decisive fifth set, 15-13.

Swartz registered 14 points, 12 kills, three blocks, seven digs and three setter assists, while Palladino had six points (one aces), five kills, and 12 digs.

Bowdoin 3, Hartwick 0
Bowdoin swept the match by scores of 25-19, 25-11, and 25-19.

Swartz had 6.5 points, six kills, one block, one assist, and five digs in the loss, while Palladino added 2.5 points (one ace), one kill, one block, and six digs.

Hartwick returns to action Friday against Williams College and Oneonta in Albany, then Saturday against New Paltz and Union College in Schnectady.
