THE WEEK AHEAD: FALL SEASON SHIFTS INTO HIGH GEAR (2025-09-07)

TIOGA COUNTY — The 2025 fall sports campaign hits high gear this week in what will likely be the busiest week of the season.

There are 42 events on the docket this week, including 10 on Friday, nine on Tuesday, and eight on Monday.

The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:

MONDAY (8)
•  The SVEC boys host divisional rival Watkins Glen on the soccer pitch.

•  Newark Valley is on the road against boys soccer arch-rival Tioga.

• SVEC hosts longtime field hockey rival Tioga. 

•  Owego on the road at Waverly in STAC boys golf action at Shepard Hills.

•  Newark Valley hosts Section IV field hockey power Vestal.

•  Newark Valley hosts Lansing in crossover volleyball action.

TUESDAY (9)
•  Newark Valley is on the road at Tioga for a girls soccer clash.

•  Owego boys Chenango Valley on the links at The Golf Club at Owego.

WEDNESDAY (6)
•  Owego hosts Chenango Valley under the lights in girls soccer action.

•  SVEC hosts first-year boys soccer program Thomas A. Edison.

•  Newark Valley hosts O-M in boys soccer action.

•  Newark Valley field hockey is at home against Sidney.

•  Owego hosts Chenango Valley in girls tennis action.

THURSDAY (5)
•  Owego hosts Moravia in a Section IV field hockey clash.

FRIDAY (10)
•  Owego hosts Susquehanna Valley in its football home opener.

•  Newark Valley hosts its second game in a row, this time against Sidney.

•  SVEC football plays its first road game at Schuyler.

•  The SVEC boys travel to face traditional IAC power Notre Dame.

•  The Owego girls are on the road at Waverly for a divisional girls soccer clash.

•  Owego cross country travels to Penn State for the "Spiked Shoe Invite."

•  Newark Valley hosts Maine-Endwell in its third home field hockey match of the season.

•  Newark Valley hosts Newfield in IAC boys soccer action.

•  Owego girls tennis hosts Seton Catholic.

SATURDAY (4)
•  Candor tests its mettle at the rugged Tioga Volleyball Tournament.

•  Owego hosts Waverly in STAC boys soccer action.

•  SVEC hosts longtime IAC rival O-M on the girls soccer pitch.

•  Owego hosts Walton in a morning field hockey match.
