CANDOR — Candor opened defense of its Class D state title with a 3-0 victory over Odessa-Montour here Wednesday evening. The Coyotes won by scores of 25-11, 25-7, 25-7.
The Coyotes received several solid efforts from across the roster.
Ava Fernando had six kills and one block; Nora Young contributed five service points and two aces; Malley Heidl chipped in with four service points, two aces, 16 assists and one kill; Montana Vorhis added four service points and one kill.
Nicola Soper had two service points, two aces and five kills; Hazel Ray pitched in with seven service points and three kills; Emmi Makie racked up 15 service points, seven aces, six kills and one assist; and Jill Teribury chalked up 15 service points and seven aces.
Sidney Pike tallied two service points, one assist and one dig for the Grizzlies. Jaden Jarrell added four service points and one dig; Rilke Arrance had one service point, one kill and one dig; and Olivia Riveria pitched in with one service point and three digs.
The Coyotes visit Newfield on Friday.
JV: Candor downed O-M by scores of 25-8 and 25-12, and also won the exhibition game, 25-16.
