IAC VOLLEYBALL: S-VE SWEEPS GROTON IN SEASON-OPENER (2025-09-03)
Tioga County Sports ReportGROTON — S-VE pulled out a hard-fought decision in the first set, then finished off a season-opening sweep of Groton here Wednesday night in IAC Small School volleyball action.
The Panthers won the first set, 25-18, then reeled off wins of 25-15 and 25-11 to close out the win.
Andy Wallace led S-VE with 16 service points, including two aces, and four digs, while Lauren Gillette had 13 points (three aces), 14 kills, and three digs, and Trinity Dashler had 12 points (three aces), five kills and four digs.
Kelsea Swayze doled out 26 setter assists, and had seven digs, and two kills for the Panthers, while Madison Ashby add six points, two kills, and two digs. Amani Diboun recorded 12 digs, Eliana Middlebrook registered four kills, and Emma Neish chipped in with two digs.
S-VE hosts Union Springs Friday.
JV: S-VE swept the junior varsity match by scores of 25-14 and 25-13.
Leah Neish led S-VE with 10 points, including four aces, while Hannah Rose had eight points (two aces), Lillie Horyczun had five points (four aces), nine assists, and two digs, and Zoey Barton had five points (two aces).
Veronica Stone had four points (three aces), three kills and three digs in the win, while Devorah Lau had three points (three aces) and two digs, Madison Emery had three points and three kills, Kylee Stahl added three points and two kills, Riley Koch had two points (two aces), and Riley Swimlear chipped in with three digs.
