STAC GIRLS SWIMMING & DIVING: OWEGO COMES UP JUST SHY AGAINST FORKS (2025-09-03)

BINGHAMTON — Owego split 12 events with Chenango Forks, but the Blue Devils eked out an 89-88 win in STAC girls swimming and diving at Chenango Valley High School Wednesday.

Sophomore Kaiah Malmstrom and junior Ava Murphy won two races each for the River Hawks. Malmstrom took the 200-yard freestyle in 2:34.62 and the 500 free with a time of 7:02.65 while Murphy touched the wall first in the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly, clocking 2:33.19 and 1:05.42, respectively.

Ayla Young was an individual winner as well, scoring 238 points in diving.

Owego also won the 400 free relay as Riley Masterson, Elizabeth Williams, Maliah McMillen and Cecilia Clair posted a time of 4:53.51.

Runners-up for the River Hawks were Williams in the 200 free (2:35.62), Sawyer Pratt in the 100 free (1:09.08), Masterson in the 500 free (7:27.95), McMillen in the 100 backstroke (1:18.02), Reese Hunt in the 100 breaststroke (1:35.27), the 200 medley relay of McMillen, Hunt, Murphy and Pratt (2:15.24), and the 200 free relay of Pratt, Clair, Williams and Murphy (2:04.23).

Placing third for Owego were Clair in the 50 free (:31.0) and 100 free (1:13.65), Williams in the 100 fly (1:26.9) and Isabelle Taylor in the 100 breast (1:39.4).

Owego heads to Waverly Saturday to compete in the Wolverine Invite.
