SECTION IV FIELD HOCKEY: VESTAL’S EXPERIENCE TOO MUCH FOR OWEGO (2025-09-02)

VESTAL — Vestal took advantage of its experience to defeat Owego, 6-0, in Section IV field hockey action here Tuesday.
Five different players scored for the Golden Bears, which has 17 seniors and juniors on its 21-player roster.
Junior Sadie Parsons scored 59 seconds into the game with the assist going to sophomore Helene Ryan. Senior Isabel Goncalves made it 2-0 at 6:45 with an assist by 8th-grader Ari Kweller. Junior Ava Peters pushed the Golden Bears’ advantage to 3-0 on an unassisted goal with 2:24 remaining in the opening period.
In the second quarter, senior Alley Crowley made it 4-0 on a feed by junior Ali Policare, then junior Ava Lucenti pushed the lead to 5-0 with an unassisted goal at 10:16.
Lucenti picked up her second tally of the evening on a penalty corner with 5:21 left in the game.
Vestal (1-0) held a 24-0 advantage in shots and had 15 corners to one for Owego.
Allie Kneller made 17 saves in goal for the River Hawks and Gabby Boehme contributed one defensive save.
Owego (0-2) visits Spencer-Van Etten/Candor on Friday.
