NEWFIELD - Candor girls JV basketball team used a strong fourth quarter to pull away from host Newfield, 38-28, in IAC JV girl action here Saturday.

The Indians won a tight first quarter, 11-9, then were edged in a low scoring second stanza, 6-5, to carry a 16-15 edge into halftime. The teams played to an even 7-7 third frame before Candor was able to break out for 15 points the the fourth.

Candor's scoring was led by Pearl Ricardo, who hit a trio of 3-pointers. Along with 12 points, she also had six steals. Other scorers for the Indians were Meckenzie Marsh and Shelby Swartz with seven points, Alexis Kane with six, and Olivia Parillo, Serenity Wintermute, and Cadriana Edwards, each with two. Wintermute and Swartz had seven and six steals, respectively.

Candor finishes up its season with home games tonight against S-VE and Thursday against Edison.
