TIOGA COUNTY — High school sports action hits its stride this week as schools open for 2025-26 across Tioga County.

There are 27 events on this week's docket, including nine on Friday and seven on Wednesday.

The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:

MONDAY (0)

TUESDAY (5)
•  The SVEC girls open their 2025 season at home against Newfield.

•  Owego hosts Windsor in a boys soccer match.

WEDNESDAY (7)
•  Newark Valley hosts SVEC in the field hockey season-opener for both teams.

•  Defending N.Y. State Class D volleyball champion Candor opens the season at home against O-M.

•  S-VE opens its volleyball season at Groton.

•  Owego opens its girls swim season at Chenango Forks.

•  Newark Valley hosts Groton in an IAC crossover girls soccer match.

•   Owego hosts Norwich in STAC tennis action.

THURSDAY (2)
•  Defending Section IV champ Owego opens its season against STAC volleyball rival Susquehanna Valley.

•  Newark Valley hosts Southern Cayuga in an IAC crossover boys soccer match.

FRIDAY (9)
•  Newark Valley opens its 2025 season against Schuyler with its first-ever home night football game.

•  Owego football opens the season at defending Section IV, Class C champion Chenango Forks.

•  SVEC hosts IAC North foe Lansing on the girls soccer pitch.

•  SVEC hosts Owego in a Tioga County field hockey battle.

•  S-VE hosts Union Springs in an IAC crossover volleyball match.

•  Newark Valley hosts Whitney Point in an IAC crossover volleyball match.

SATURDAY (4)
•  SVEC opens the 2025 football season at home in a matinee affair against Harpursville-Afton.

•  Newark Valley and Candor will be in action at the Corning Volleyball Tournament.

•  Owego will compete at the Wolverine Swimming & Diving Invite at Waverly.

•  Owego will run at the Forbes Cross Country Invite at Oneonta.
