IAC BOYS SOCCER: SVEC RALLIES TO EDGE WHITNEY POINT, 2-1, IN SEASON OPENER (18 PHOTOS) (2025-08-27) Tioga County Sports Report SPENCER — Whitney Point scored early, but SVEC had an answer in the second half, rallying for a 2-1 win here Wednesday afternoon in IAC crossover boys soccer action.
"The team showed resilience today to come from behind to pull out the win," said SVEC coach Jason Banks.
"We had a good performance by our center-mid Kyle Jantz and center-backs Gavin Bates and Connor Hunt.
"The team has a lot to learn from this game, but it was a step in the right direction," added Banks.
Trailing 1-0 at the half, Nathan Morse and Wyatt Anderson collected second-half goals for the Eagles. Kyle Jantz and Taylor Vanderpoel were credited with assists.
SVEC had an 11-5 advantage in shots-on-goal, and Whitney Point had a 3-0 edge in corner kicks.
Brennan Zimmer had three saves in net for the Eagles.
SVEC returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Newfield at Candor High School.
