NYS TRACK & FIELD: OWEGO'S HEATH AND CHRYSLER COMPETE ON DAY ONE OF NYSPHSAA OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS (June 13, 2025)

MIDDLETOWN - Owego track and field standouts, Jaelyn Chrysler and Gavin Heath hit the track at the State Championships on Friday for day one of the NYSPHSAA two-day meet.
OFA's Gavin Heath competed in the boys' 800-meter run on Friday afternoon. Heath qualified for the NYSPHSAA Track And Field Championships by finishing first for Class B in last week's State Qualifier.
In today's 800m final, Heath finished with a time of 2:00.66. This season Gavin Heath captured the STAC Championship in the 400m, as well as winning the 800-meters at the Class A/B Championships in Endicott, NY.
Owego's Jaelyn Chrysler ran in the night portion of Friday's State Championship events. Chrysler competed in the girls' 3000m, having qualified last week with a Class B first place time of 11:12.49.
On Friday night, Chrysler ran a time of 11:06.90 in the 3000 to finish ninth in her heat. Chrysler is not done yet though, as the River Hawks' standout will compete again on day two in the 1500-meter run. The girls 1500m is scheduled to run at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
