COLLEGE: OWEGO FREE ACADEMY HAS 20 ATHLETES SIGN TO CONTINUE COMPETING AT THE NEXT LEVEL (2025-06-06)

OWEGO - On Thursday, OFA held their annual College Signing Day that saw 20 athletes sign to continue their athletic careers in multiple sports and at several different collegiate program levels, including Division I, II, III, and JUCO.
OFA athletes signed to play in multiple sports such as baseball, softball, soccer, football, basketball, wrestling, field hockey, volleyball, diving, lacrosse, and flag football.
In football, Jack Buchsbaum and Adam Arhbal signed to play at Alfred University. Evan English is heading to SUNY Cortland, while Billy Huddleston will play at Mansfield University and Carson Morris is continuing his football career at SUNY Morrisville.
Two Owego athletes will continue their lacrosse careers at Tompkins Cortland CC, which are Antoni Talarico and Aaron Brainard.
For field hockey, Ashleigh Steele signed to play at Misericordia University and Alexis Cheeseman is moving on to Hartwick College. Cheeseman plans to compete in flag football while at Hartwick as well.
Also signing to play flag football at the next level is Isabella Silvestri. Silvestri will be heading to Marymount University.
Three different River Hawks signed to continue their soccer careers after high school. Zyir VanScoy will be playing at Nazareth University, while Jaxson Belokur is heading to Elmira College and Vasil Brich signed to compete at Herkimer CCC.
In basketball, Madison McEvoy is heading to SUNY Oswego. OFA's Kaelyn Katchuk will continue her diving career at Boston University and Logan Georgia will play volleyball at SUNY Potsdam.
On Thursday, Ava Leonard signed to SUNY Delhi for softball, while Collin Monell is moving on to SUNY Oswego to continue his wrestling career.
Conlan Taylor and Elijah Lewis will both be taking the diamond at the next level. Taylor signed to play baseball at Binghamton University and Lewis will be heading to Herkimer CCC.
"This has been an exceptional senior class and they have certainly set a high standard for OA athletics," said OFA Athletic Director, Ryan Hallenbeck.
"We’re proud of our student-athletes who are taking their talents to the next level. I would personally like to say thank you for representing our school with pride. We can’t wait to see what you’ll accomplish in college athletics."
"Your accomplishments here at Owego have inspired future athletes and you have certainly left your mark. I look forward to watching them at the next level and hope for nothing but continued success both academically and athletically," added Hallenbeck.
