TRACK & FIELD STATE QUALIFIERS: S-VE HAS SOLID SHOWING ON DAY ONE OF STATE QUALIFIER MEET, KENVILLE ADVANCES TO FINALS IN 110 HURDLES (2025-06-04)

ENDICOTT - Day one of the two-day Section IV Track And Field State Qualifier is in the books and Spencer-Van Etten had a solid day on the track, with Karson Kenville advancing to the finals of the 110-meter hurdles.
Kenville clocked 16.30 to place third overall in the 110 hurdle prelims. The time was good enough to advance Kenville into Thursday's final.
S-VE's Gabe Benjamin is competing in the pentathlon event. The first three legs of the event were completed on day one, with Benjamin earning 1,139 points. Benjamin leaped 1.46m in the high jump, while also running 19.56 in the 110 hurdles and tossing 8.46m in the shot put. Thursday's final two legs will be the long jump and 1500-meter run.
In the 100-meter dash prelims, Theo Mueller-Steinhardt ran 11.72 for eighth in Class C and 14th overall. Mueller-Steinhardt also clocked 23.51 in the 200m prelims, just missing out on advancing to the finals.
David Rivers competed in the 400-meter hurdles, running 1:02.46, while Kaylee Kastenhuber heaved 29-2.50 in the girls' shot put event.
The team of Kenville, Mueller-Steinhardt, Rivers, and Zach Paucke finished 13th overall in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 45.50.
Spencer-Van Etten track and field will be back for day two of the Section IV State Qualifier on Thursday, with Kenville hoping to earn a trip to the state championships and Kastenhuber competing in the girls' discus event.
