Tioga County Sports Report
SPENCER - This past Friday, Spencer-Van Etten's Lilyanah Doolittle signed her National Letter Of Intent to continue her volleyball career at Elmira College.
Doolittle who owns the Panthers' school records for blocks and kills felt it was a combination of factors that led to her decision to choose Elmira College.
"They have an amazing nursing program and I just want to do something that will forever help people. Of course I want to focus on my future career, but I also knew they had a really good volleyball team and as soon as I met the team, I knew that is where I was meant to be," said Doolittle.
As far as what strengths Doolittle believes she is bringing with her, the S-VE senior said, "One of my number one strengths is I am always excited for everything. Everyone's accomplishments, not just my own. I want to celebrate the people around me as well."
S-VE volleyball coach, Charity Meyers echoed those strengths. "Lily has always been a great leader on and off the court with a positive attitude, so I know she will bring that with her to Elmira," coach Meyers said.
"Her skill level along with the work ethic she has. That combination can bring your team up another level."
"We are excited that she is close enough for all of us to be able to go and watch her play," added coach Meyers.
With the transition from high school to college, Lilyanah Doolittle is excited for the opportunity to meet new faces at the next stage.
"I am so excited to meet to new people. I'm such a social person. Opening these different doors of my life, I just can't wait to see not only what I do, but who I meet," commented Doolittle.
The standout senior also made sure to mention how thankful she is for the people along her journey.
"I want to thank Mr. Lloyd who is one of my number one supporters and has always been there for me. All my coaches throughout the years, not just volleyball coaches, but also basketball coaches. My friends and family who supported me. I appreciate every single person that came into my life."
