HORSEHEADS - Spencer-Van Etten's Lauren Gillette and Lily Kunzman represented their girls' golf program on Thursday morning, while Candor's Gwen Shaw also hit the links at Soaring Eagles Golf Course in the Section IV Championships.

Over 45 golfers participated in the Sectional Championship with the top nine finishers qualifying for the state tournament. S-VE's Gillette missed the mark by just two strokes in Thursday's round.

Gillette shot a 46 on the front nine and carded a 49 on the back to earn a 95 for a round she was very proud of. Gillette finished 11th for the tournament.

S-VE's Lily Kunzman went 61 on the front nine, while shooting a 65 on second nine to earn a 126 for the day.

Candor's Gwen Shaw finished off a solid 2025 season, carding a 116 on the 18-hole, par-71 course.

"Proud of how Gwen improved her game all season. For her first match back in April, she shot a 65 and by the end of the season she had a 54 average to qualify as an individual for the state qualifier tournament," said coach Jason Banks.  

Corning's Delaney Abel won the tournament, shooting a 72 and Lansing took the team title with a 385 total.
