CANDOR - Following a week of postponements and cancellations due to weather, Candor dropped a lopsided IAC South Small School game to Odessa-Montour, 52-26, Friday night.
Candor started out well with a 9-5 opening quarter lead as Jennah Kareem hit two 3-pointers to pace the Indians.
Odessa's 20-4 run in the second frame, however, doomed Candor as the it fell behind by 12 at the half and could only creep within seven before Odessa extended its lead to 39-17 by the end of the third.
Candor's scoring was led by Kareem's 11, while Odessa was paced by Olivia Grover's 15 and a career-high 17 by Alexis Saunders. Saunders hit four threes on the night.
"Because of the weather this week, we didn't practice for three days except for a little shoot-around after school - and it showed," said Candor head coach Carl Kanoff. "We turned the ball over 39 times. We only made eight shots. Those are the only stats needed to describe it. Hopefully we get a night's rest and erase our memory banks because tomorrow night we travel to play one of the best teams in the section."
Candor (6-9) visits Newfield (14-1) Saturday to make up the game postponed from Tuesday. The Trojans are ranked 10th in the state in Class C.
