SECTION IV TRACK & FIELD: S-VE'S KAYLEE KASTENHUBER WINS DISCUS, CANDOR'S LINDSEY MORSE EARNS PAIR OF THIRD PLACE FINISHES AT CLASS D CHAMPIONSHIPS (2025-05-29)

MARATHON - Candor and Spencer-Van Etten track and field competed alongside over 20 teams on Wednesday night in the Section IV Class D Championships, with S-VE's Kaylee Kastenhuber claiming the discus title, while Candor's Lindsey Morse placed third in multiple events.

For the boys, S-VE finished 11th as a team with 20 points and the Coyotes placed 19th. On the girls' side, Candor came in 13th with 14, while the Panthers took 15th with 11 points.

GIRLS RESULTS
Spencer-Van Etten's Kastenhuber won the Class D Championship in the discus event, throwing 95-11. Kastenhuber also placed sixth in the shot put with a heave of 28-4.75. 

Lilie Stevens finished eighth in the pole vault for the Panthers, posting 6-0 and S-VE's Madelyn Ellison leaped 4-3 in the high jump to take eighth as well.

Candor's Morse picked up a pair of third place finishes. Morse went 15-4 in the long jump and ran 16.70 in 100 hurdles.

Megan Williamson earned a couple top-ten finishes for the Coyotes, clocking 29.04 for eighth in the 100-meter dash. Williamson placed 10th in the 400m, running 1:05.92.

The Candor 4x400m relay team clocked 4:35.39 to take fifth in the Class D Championships.

BOYS RESULTS
Charlie Hilbert paced the Candor boys' team. Hilbert grabbed two top-ten finishes on the night. In the long jump, Hilbert took sixth, leaping 19-1.5 and in the 400-meters, Hilbert ran 56.67 for ninth.

James Kane placed ninth for the Coyotes in the 800m, clocking 2:14.99.

For Spencer-Van Etten, Karson Kenville ran 16.06 for third in the 110 hurdles. Edward Rixford also earned a third place finish for the Panthers, running 11:13.89 in the 3000m steeplechase.

S-VE's Theo Mueller-Steinhardt took fifth in the 100-meter dash, clocking 11.8, while Landon Whitmarsh leaped 18-9.5 in the long jump to place seventh.

Gabe Benjamin ran 2:14.80 in the 800-meters for eighth and S-VE's Dylan Rosa-Collazo also placed eighth in the pole vault event, posting 9-6.

Candor and S-VE track and field will now send athletes to compete in state qualifiers at Union-Endicott next week.
