SECTION IV TRACK & FIELD: OWEGO's HEATH RUNS SEASON BEST, PALLADINO AND CHRYSLER DOUBLE WINNERS AT CLASS A/B CHAMPIONSHIPS (2025-05-28)

ENDICOTT - OFA track and field had a big night at the Section IV Class A/B Championships on Wednesday with Stella Palladino, Jaelyn Chrysler and Gavin Heath picking up victories to help pace the River Hawks.
For the Owego girls, Palladino was a double winner. Palladino earned Class B championships in both the 100 and 200-meter dash. In the 100, Palladino ran 12.91 and clocked 26.43 to take first in the 200m.
Chrysler won the 1500-meters with a time of 5:08.35, while also winning the 3000m with 10:56.71. Abigail McHugh earned second in the 1500m, running 5:19.81.
Madison McEvoy picked up a second place finish in the 400m with 1:06.70, while Sidney Senko took fourth in the event, clocking 1:07.33.
Taylor Signs placed fifth in the triple jump, leaping 27-4.5 and Aubrey Ellis threw 54-5 in the discus to take eighth.
The Owego girls' 4x800-meter relay of Palladino, Senko, McEvoy and Lilly LaFever took 2nd place, running 10:25.15 for their best time of the season.
Owego girls' team finished fifth overall in the Section IV Class B team standings, with Vestal winning the team title.
On the OFA boys' side, Heath ran a season best to win the Class B 800-meters, clocking 1:58.91. Brady Senko placed second in the 110 hurdles, running 16.88. Senko also took fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.76.
Jaeden King ran 11.35 for third in the 100-meter dash, while Magavin Allen earned fourth in the 400m with 53.76.
Javan Belokur clocked 4:53.41 to take fourth in the 1600-meters and Sullivan O'Donnell placed second for Owego in the 3000m steeplechase, running 10:42.12.
Dylan Davis earned a pair of fourth place finishes in the field events. Davis heaved 43-2.75 in the shot put and tossed 120-5 in the discus.
The boys' 4x100-meter relay of Adam Llewelyn, Billy Huddleston, Matt Samuelson and King won the Class B event with 45.20. Owego's 4x800-meter boys relay also earned victory. The team consisted of Allen, Bryson Castro, Ryker Chrysler and Belokur.
Owego boys' team finished third overall in the Section IV Class B team standings, while Vestal took home the team championship.
"Many of our athletes ran their best times of the season tonight. All of our relay teams are showing improvement and we are hoping to continue that trend next week," said coach Scott Senko.
"Our athletes are ready to drop some fast times at the state qualifier next week and we are hoping that several of them qualify for the state meet the following weekend."
