ON TAP TODAY: JAM PACKED EVENING OF POSTSEASON PLAY WITH OWEGO BASEBALL, SOFTBALL, FLAG, AND TRACK ALL IN ACTION, AS WELL AS S-VE AND CANDOR AT MARATHON FOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS (2025-05-28)

Tioga County Sports Report
Championship season is in full effect today, as Owego sees postseason action in track, flag football, baseball, and softball, while S-VE and Candor are on the track at Marathon for the Class D Championships.

BASEBALL
OFA at Maine-Endwell
Owego travels to face the Spartans this evening in game one of a three-game series to determine the Section IV Class A champion. This will be a rematch of last year's championship series, which Maine-Endwell got the better of. The River Hawks defeated Chenango Valley last week in the semifinal to get here.

SOFTBALL
OFA at Chenango Valley
The River Hawks and Warriors meet again today, this time in a Class A semifinal match-up. Owego and Chenango Valley split during the regular season. OFA won the first game 7-4, while CV grabbed the second meeting, 6-4.

FLAG FOOTBALL
OFA vs Rhinebeck
Last Saturday the River Hawks repeated as Sectional Champions to remain unbeaten on the year, defeating Susquehanna Valley, 44-6. Tonight, OFA heads down state to face Rhinebeck (9-1) out of Section IX in the Class C Sub-Regional at Goshen High School.

TRACK & FIELD
Section IV Class D Championships
Candor and Spencer-Van Etten head to Marathon this evening to compete at the Section IV Class D Track & Field Championships. Theo Mueller-Steinhardt, Karson Kenville and Edward Rixford will lead the Panthers boys' team, while S-VE's Kaylee Kastenhuber and Aubrey Catablan hope for strong showings in the field events for the girls' side. Candor's Lindsey Morse will look to keep the momentum, coming off a good showing at the IAC Championships last week, and Charlie Hilbert aims for fast times as well.

Section IV Class A/B Championships
Owego is hoping to peak at the right time with fast postings today at the Section IV Class A/B Track & Field Championships at Union-Endicott High School. The River Hawks will be led by Stella Palladino in the sprints on the girls' side, as well as Jaelyn Chrysler in the distance events. For the boys, Gavin Heath is looking to improve upon his STAC Championship performance in the 400-meters last week, while Jaeden King hopes for a solid showing in the sprints.
