IAC TRACK & FIELD: IAC TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS FINISH UP AT NEWARK VALLEY, WITH CARDINALS, PANTHERS AND COYOTES ALL COMPETING IN DAY TWO OF EVENTS (2025-05-22)

NEWARK VALLEY - The IAC Track And Field Championships finished up on Thursday with athletes competing in day two of events, as S-VE boys placed second in the Small School Division, and Newark Valley earned a pair of fourth place team finishes for Large School.

Large School Division action on day two included Newark Valley's Emily LaPorte placing second in the 400 hurdles, running 1:10.98. Elijah Williams took fourth in the event on the boys' side with 
1:04.55.

Brook Illsley and Malerie Gregrow went three-four in the girls' 3000. Illsley ran 12:26.72 and Gregrow clocked 13:37.90.

Elle Webb finished ninth in the 800m, running 2:43.27 for the Cardinals, while Leah Lansing earned seventh with 2:45.52. 

The Newark Valley boys' 4x400-meter relay team placed third with 3:45.75, while Logan Rhodes finished second in the pole vault event, posting 12-6. 

Zion King leaped 38-5.25 to take fourth in the triple jump for large school. Newark Valley's LaPorte went 31-0.5 in the event to finish seventh.

Jack Blomberg threw 107-9 in the discus event to take sixth for the Cardinals and Austin DeBolt tossed 91-2 for eighth.

Newark Valley boys finished the IAC Championships fourth in the Large School team standings with 42 points, while the girls' side placed fourth as well in the Large School division with 56.3. Lansing won both the boys and girls' IAC Large School Championships.

"We were very honored to be able to host this year. Despite the weather, things ran very well and the community did a great job," said Newark Valley coach, Eric D'Arcy.

Small School Division action on day two included Theo Mueller-Steinhardt taking second in the 200-meter dash with 23.83 for the Panthers. Zachary Paucke finished seventh in the event with 24.64.

Candor girls' 4x400-meter relay team earned third for small school, running 4:37.04.

Edward Rixford finished third in the 3200 for the S-VE boys, running 10:53.29.

S-VE's David Rivers earned third in the 400 hurdles with 1:04.62. Ryan Ackerley came in fifth for the Panthers, running 1:19.46.

Candor's Megan Williamson took seventh in the girls' 200-meter dash, clocking 29.13.

In the boys' 800m, S-VE's Gabe Benjamin went 2:14.42 to place fourth, while Candor's James Kane earned an 11th place finish, running 2:26.79.

Kendall Gentile ran 2:49.24 in the girls' 800-meters, finishing seventh, while Candor's Montana Vorhis placed eighth in the event with 2:51.67.

S-VE's Chase Whitmarsh took fourth in the discus event, throwing 105-1. Candor's Jasper Weisz finished 10th with a throw of 84-2.

Karson Kenville earned third in the triple jump for the Panthers, leaping 37-7.50. Kaylee Kastenhuber heaved 28-0.50 for second place in the shot put. Candor's JennaRose Reagan tossed 23-10 to take sixth in the event.

Spencer Van-Etten's 4x400-meter relay team placed third for small school, running 3:46.37.

In the Small School division, S-VE boys finished second in the team standings with 87 points, and the girls' team placed fifth with 43. Candor came in 10th as a team for boys, while the Coyotes girls' team finished sixth with 38.5 points. Tioga won the boys' IAC Championship for Small School. Southern Cayuga took the championship for girls.
