IAC BOYS' GOLF: S-VE PICKS UP TWO WINS NEEDED TO QUALIFY AS A TEAM FOR SECTIONALS (May 14, 2025)

WAVERLY - The magic number of team wins to qualify for sectionals coming into Wednesday was two for the Panthers, and S-VE was able to accomplish just that, defeating both Odessa-Montour and Union Springs.

Spencer/Van-Etten totaled a team score of 192 for the day. Union Springs wasn't far off, scoring a 195, while Odessa-Montour finished with a team score of 201.

John Hastings led the Panthers with a 43 and Jayden Stone carded a 49 on the day for S-VE.

Owen Bly and AJ Shoemaker each carded a 50, while Donavin Vanderpoel finished with a non-scoring round of 54. S-VE's Chris Kobre earned a 61 for his non-scoring round.

The match's low medal honors went to Union Springs' Michael Culver, who carded a 39.

On Wednesday, S-VE boys and girls' golf both honored their seniors before the event.

For the boys' team, the seniors honored were Owen Bly, Donavin Vanerpoel, Jayden Stone, and John Johnston.

On the girls' side, seniors that were honored included Lily Kunzman, Hannah Smith and Delilah Alpert.

S-VE boys' golf moves to 5-6 overall this season and will travel to play Marathon on Thursday.
