IAC SOFTBALL: CARDINALS TAKE LEAD INTO FOURTH INNING BUT TIOGA PULLS AWAY LATE FOR THE WIN (2025-05-13)

Tioga County Sports Report
TIOGA - Newark Valley softball looked strong early in Tuesday's IAC contest, taking a lead into the middle of the game, but the Tigers put together a big inning late to earn the win, 11-3.

Newark Valley jumped out in front with a run in the second inning. Laura Ludwig lead off with a walk. Lilly Cornell moved Ludwig to second with a sacrifice bunt, before Ludwig advanced to third on a wild pitch. With two-outs, Ludwig reached home on a passed ball.

The Cardinals then put two more runs on the board in the top part of the third. Haven Aylesworth doubled to start things off. After moving to third on a passed ball, Aylesworth would score off a Kayden Rockwell RBI-single. Abby DeBolt knocked a base-hit to move Rockwell to third. Rockwell then reached home on another passed ball to put Newark Valley in from 3-0.

The Tigers got one back in the home half of the third and another in the fourth, before exploding for eight runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach.

Rockwell went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Ludwig was 1-for-2 with a run scored, while DeBolt and Aylesworth each finished with a hit a piece.
