IAC TENNIS: NEWARK VALLEY HOSTS IAC TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS, LANSING AND WATKINS GLEN FINISH AS CO-CHAMPS (2025-05-13)

NEWARK VALLEY - The Cardinals hosted the 2025 IAC Tennis Championships in what turned out to be a two day event, with the Lansing Bobcats and Watkins Glen finishing with 15 points each to be named co-champions.

In the first singles bracket, Notre Dame's Francisco Serrano Alvarez-Sost earned first place. Newark Valley's Michael Wandell finished fourth. Wandell won his first round match in a three-setter that lasted nearly three hours.

Notre Dame also finished atop the bracket in second singles, with Felipe Silva taking top honors.

In third singles, the bracket was won by Watkins Glen's Enric Lin. Owen Jerabek placed fourth for the Cardinals, winning his first round match, but falling in the second round.

Lansing's Boerman and Ayer took home the championship in first doubles competition.

Lansing's Maloney and Eynav bested the field for first place in second doubles. Newark Valley's Brianna Noble and Joe Jerabek had a great showing in the bracket, making it to the second day and coming up just short in a third place match with Watkins Glen. 

Newark Valley will host the Section IV Class C West tournament on Thursday, with Michael Wandell and Owen Jerabek competing in singles for the Cardinals, while Emma Smith and Vincent Finta team up in the doubles bracket. Andrew Lelik and Brianna Noble will also compete together in doubles action at sectionals.
