Tioga County Sports Report
OWEGO - The River Hawks carried a five-run lead late into the game, but Ithaca managed a big fifth inning to go ahead and eventually pull out the win, 9-6 on Tuesday.

All five of Owego's runs were scored in the third inning. Jack Buchsbaum lead off the third with a base-hit, followed by a Joseph Palladino single to right field. With two on, Elijah Lewis knocked a three-run homer to left. Conlan Taylor then stepped to the plate and also homered to left field.

Evan English and Connor Kotski would hit back-to-back singles, and Matt Higgins worked a walk to load the bases. Jacob Bensley lifted a sac-fly to score English for the final run of the inning.

After a scoreless fourth, the Little Red's big inning came in the fifth when they plated eight runs to take the lead.

Ithaca scored another run in the top part of the seventh. In the home half of the inning, OFA reached base on their first two at-bats, but only managed one run after a walk scored Dylan Brace.

Lewis went 1-for-2 on the day with a home run, while Taylor also had a homer, going 2-for-4.

English was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Brace and Palladino each scored a run as well. Matt Higgins earned a pair of hits and Buchsbaum also knocked a base-hit against Ithaca.

The River Hawks will now turn their focus to the STAC playoffs in Binghamton at Mirabito Stadium on Saturday.
