BINGHAMTON - In a match-up that would put the winner in the driver's seat of the STAC Central Division, OFA fought back late, but came up short in a loss to Chenango Valley, 6-4 at Greenlight Park.

Carsten Crawford got the start in the circle for Owego and made quick work of the Warriors in the top of the first.

In the home half of the inning, Eva Crawford homered to deep left center, giving the River Hawks a 1-0 lead after an inning of play.

Chenango Valley put two runners on in the second, but Crawford worked out of the jam without allowing anyone to reach home.

Owego went down in order in the bottom of the second. In the third, the Warriors got on the board to tie things up 1-1.

After a scoreless fourth inning, Chenango Valley plated three more runs in the fifth and another two runs in the top part of the sixth to go up 6-1.

OFA battled back though with three runs of their own in the home half of the sixth inning. Braelea McLaren lead off with a single, followed by Joslyn Space reaching on a base-hit as well. Eva Crawford then worked a walk to load the bases. 

With one-out, Miley Laubach lifted a ball to left field, allowing McLaren to tag up and score, while also advancing Space and Crawford on the throw. Maia Smith came up next and ripped a double up the middle to drive in the other two runs of the inning.

Carsten Crawford retired the Warriors quickly again in the seventh, but the Owego offense couldn't get any runs home in the final inning.

Crawford allowed five earned runs, while striking out six in Saturday's contest. 

Eva Crawford went 1-for-2 with a home run. Smith finished the game going 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Laubach also drove in a run, while Space earned a pair of hits on the day.

Owego will try to get back in the win column on May 14th, when they host Oneonta.
