IAC TRACK & FIELD: ANIKA SMITH EARNS THREE WINS TO HELP PACE NEWARK VALLEY AT NOTRE DAME (2025-05-05)

ELMIRA - Newark Valley's Anika Smith was a triple winner on Monday, leading the way for the Cardinals' track and fields teams, while the boys' side clocked solid times in their meet against the Notre Dame Crusaders as well.
Newark Valley won, 101-40 on the girls' side, while the Cardinal boys defeated Notre Dame, 102-25.
Notable finishes for the Cardinals included, Elijah Williams winning the 110 hurdles, running 17.34. Williams also took home the 400m, with a time of 57.4.
Marcos Escalante placed first in the 1600m, with 5:05.3, while Zion King won the 200m, running 24.6. King won the long jump as well, leaping 18-3.5.
Anika Smith won the girls' long jump with 15-6.5 for the Cardinals. Smith also placed first in the 200-meters, running 28.2, as well as the 400m, clocking 1:10.8.
Leah Lansing won the 800m, with 2:49.5, and Emily LaPorte took first in the 400m hurdles, running 1:12.7. Brooke Illsley finished first for Newark Valley in the girls' 1500-meters with a time of 6:09.4.
Newark Valley's Jack Blomberg finished first in the shot put, heaving 34-3, while Austin DeBolt won the discus event with a throw of 98-2.
Isabella King tossed a 79-2 for first in the girls' discus.
Cardinals' track and field will be back in action on May 10th, traveling to Union-Endicott.
