CANDOR - SVEC softball honored their seniors on Wednesday, while picking up a close 4-3 win over visiting Whitney Point in IAC action.

Elliana Middlebrook pitched a complete game, allowing one earned run and fanning seven Whitney Point batters.

SVEC struck quickly with a run in the first inning. Jillian Holmes was hit by a pitch, then Faith Brenchley reached base on a bunt single. Katelyn Klym grounded out to second base, but scored Holmes.

No runs crossed in the second and Whitney Point got on the board with a run in the top part of the third.

SVEC responded by plating one in the fourth, but the Golden Eagles got two back the next inning.

In the bottom of the fifth, Kaidince Root got on after being hit by a pitch. Root then stole second, before being driven in by a Holmes single to tie things up at three a piece. 

In the bottom of the sixth with two outs, Ryleigh Bowman stole third and then reached home on a passed ball for the go ahead run that would ultimately win the game for SVEC.

The seniors that were honored tonight for the Eagles, were Ryleigh Bowman, Katelyn Klym and Faith Brenchley.

Klym had an RBI in the game, while Brenchley recorded a hit and Bowman scored a run.
