STAC BASEBALL: OWEGO USES BIG FOURTH INNING TO EARN SWEEP OVER VISITING WARRIORS (2025-04-24)

Tioga County Sports Report
OWEGO - Owego plated double digit runs in the fourth inning Thursday afternoon, sparking an 11-0 victory and series sweep over Chenango Valley.

The River Hawks' scored in the first inning when Evan English drew a two-out walk and then reached home on a Connor Kotski base-hit.

The only other inning with runs was the fourth, where OFA broke the game open by plating 10.

English lead off the bottom of the fourth with a walk and then stole second. Kotski ripped a line drive to reach base on an error, which also scored English.

Dylan Brace was then hit by a pitch, followed by Matt Higgins working a walk to load the bases.

Jacob Bensley grounded into a fielder's choice that brought in another OFA run. Jack Buchsbaum then walked to load the bases back up. Joseph Palladino walked next, allowing a run to cross, followed by an Elijah Lewis single to left field that drove in Bensley and kept the bases juiced.

Owego's Conlan Taylor stepped in the box and earned a walk, which allowed another run to come home. With two outs and three men still on base, Kotski knocked a single to right, driving in two runs. Dylan Brace followed with an RBI double and Matt Higgins drove in two more with a fly ball to center field.

Kotski pitched another gem, going five innings with nine k's and only allowing one hit. Kotski tallied two hits and three RBIs from the plate on Thursday as well.

Higgins drove in two runs, while Brace added an RBI to go with two runs scored.

English reached home twice in the game, with Lewis and Taylor both scoring a run each. Taylor also had an RBI, as did Lewis and Jacob Bensley.

OFA baseball is back on the diamond April 29th, traveling to face Chenango Forks.
