NEWARK VALLEY - The Cardinals' bounced back from a tough loss to Lansing by taking down Elmira Notre Dame, 3-2 for Newark Valley's first win of the 2025 season.

The match got off to a tough start for the Cardinals. In first singles, Francisco Alvarez-Post defeated Newark Valley's Michael Wandell 6-1, 6-0. Notre Dame's Felipe Silva defeated Emma Smith 6-1, 6-2 in their second singles match.

Newark Valley got back on track in third singles when the Cardinals' Owen Jerabek bested Jose Elias De Tejada 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in a competitive three-set matchup.

Newark Valley's Andrew Lelik and Vincent Finta teamed up to win their first doubles contest in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5. In second doubles Joseph Jerabek and Gabrielle James defeated Notre Dame's Charlotte Welliver and Mairin Agan, 6-1, 6-4.

The Cardinals celebrated their first victory in the warm weather with some ice cream and will hit the courts again at Trumansburg on Thursday.
