STAC BASEBALL: OFA WINS ON THE ROAD TO TAKE SERIES OVER CHENANGO VALLEY (2025-04-23)

Tioga County Sports Report
BINGHAMTON - OFA's Elijah and Mathew Lewis combined to hold Chenango Valley to just one run in game two of their series, as the River Hawks picked up the road victory, 5-1 in Wednesday's afternoon matinee.
Elijah Lewis went four innings on the bump without giving up a run and striking out eight Warrior batters to earn the win. Mathew Lewis went the remaining three, allowing only two hits and one earned run in the OFA victory.
Owego scored a run in each of the first two innings. In the first, Conlan Taylor reached on a walk, then advanced to third after stealing second and an error by the catcher. With two outs, Connor Kotski doubled to score Taylor.
In the top of the second, Matt Higgins lead off with a walk and stole second. Jack Buchsbaum would single to center field, driving Higgins in for OFA's second run of the game.
No runs would cross again until the fifth inning. OFA's Taylor doubled to left and Evan English reached base due to catcher's interference. Kotski then doubled again, which allowed both Taylor and English to score.
OFA tacked on one more run in the top part of the sixth, when Sam Sherwood pinch ran and scored, followed by Chenango Valley's only run coming in the final inning.
Taylor finished 1-for-2 and a run scored, while Kotski went 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
English, Higgins and Sherwood each crossed home once for the game. Buchsbaum and Dylan Brace tallied a hit each in Wednesday's win.
"We played defense, made pitches when we needed them, and had some timely hits to drive in runs," said coach Nick Wegmann.
"We are happy to have another series win under our belt and we are looking forward to continuing to play good baseball."
The River Hawks go for the series sweep over the Warriors tomorrow at home.
