BOYS' LACROSSE: OFA DROPS WIRE TO WIRE HOME MATCHUP WITH DRYDEN (2025-04-22)

Tioga County Sports Report
OWEGO - The River Hawks' came out on the wrong end of another one-score game Tuesday night, falling to Dryden, 10-9 in a four quarter battle.

Three of Owego's losses this season have now come by a combined three goals.

"Another game that came down to one goal," said coach Craig Nevins.

"We continue to stress the importance of taking care of the little things, on and off the field."

"We're an extremely talented team individually. Right now our focus is on how all of our pieces fit best together," Nevins added.

The River Hawks' battled from wire to wire on Tuesday. In the first quarter, Garrett Phelps struck first to put OFA out in front. After a quick response from Dryden, OFA's Lucas Boccasini found the net at the 4:20 mark. Dryden came back with two goals, both within minutes of each other to finish the first quarter ahead 3-2.

In the second stanza, Caleb Cole knotted things up for the River Hawks. After another Lions goal, the game went back and forth again with Phelps tying it up for OFA. Dryden would go on to score three times in the last 2:45 of the first half, taking a 7-4 lead into the break.

Owego clawed their way back little by little in the third with goals from Boccasini, Atlas Boland, Cole, and Sawyer Prentiss.

The River Hawks and Lions spent the majority of the final quarter battling for possession, but with 2:55 left, Prentiss found the net to tie the game at nine a piece.

Just over a minute later the Lions netted the go ahead winner and held for the remainder of the clock.

Phelps, Cole, Boccasini, and Prentiss all scored two goals each, while Boland netted one as well.

OFA boys's lacrosse host Chenango Valley for their next game on April 25th.
