OWEGO - The River Hawks had the bats going, while pitcher, Conlan Taylor threw six solid innings in OFA's series opening victory over Chenango Valley, 11-2 Monday afternoon.

Owego's Taylor allowed just three hits on the day, while striking out ten. The senior standout pitcher only gave up two earned runs, both coming in the third inning.

OFA's offense did their part, plating multiple runs in each of the first four innings of Monday's contest.

Dylan Brace drove in two runs in the home half of the first, and Taylor doubled in the second to score three more.

Connor Kotski and Jacob Bensley both walked to reach base in the third inning, before being driven in by a Jack Buchsbaum double to center field. Joseph Palladino would then single to bring in Buchsbaum.

In the bottom of the fourth, Taylor again reached second on a double. Evan English stepped to the plate next and delivered a two-run homer to left field. Bensley would also double in the inning to bring in Brace for the River Hawks' 11th run of the afternoon.

Brace and Taylor both went 2-for-3, combining for three doubles and five RBIs. English finished the day going 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs. Buchsbaum drove in two to go with a pair of runs scored, while Palladino also drove in a runner. Elijah Lewis scored twice, with Kotski and Bensley accounting for a run scored each.

"I'm really happy with the at-bats the guys are having," said coach Nick Wegmann.

"They are continuing to grind and be tough outs. Conlan was outstanding on the mound today. The entire pitching staff is going a great job for us," Wegmann added.

Owego baseball improves to 5-2 on the season and will be at Chenango Valley Wednesday for game two of the series.
