J.C. Allis was poised for big things, but an injury ended her wrestling season prematurely. Regardless, Allis is T
he Sports Reports' 2024-25 All-Region Girls "
Newcomer of the Winter."
Allis
posted a 17-6 record with 11 pins and four technical falls. She
finished second at the District 4 Championships, and after an injury in
the semifinals at Regionals, placed sixth.
Of her six losses, two
were medical forfeits at Regionals, three were to PIAA medalists, and
one was to a New Jersey state medalist.
Allis also earned a pair
of wins over PIAA medalists, including a 4-1 win early in the season
against three-time state medalist Anaiah Kolesar of Northeast Bradford.

Jenna McEvoy, freshman, Owego basketball:
A good defender, McEvoy did a nice job on the boards for her size,
distributed the ball well, and consistently knocked down shots from
behind the 3-point arc. She averaged 8.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.6
assists, 1.9 steals, and 2.9 deflections. She knocked down 33
3-pointers, and took four offensive charges.
Samantha Bonnell, 8th-grader, Horseheads girls basketball:
Bonnell averaged 8 points, 6 assists and 3 steals a game. She only
turned the ball over one time a game, and had a 6-to-1
assist-to-turnover ratio. She is only second 8th-grader to start on
varsity for Horseheads.
Maddie McNamara, freshman, North Penn-Mansfield basketball: McNamara
burst onto the varsity scene with a 20-point night in the Lady Tigers’
season opener. She went on to average 10.5 points and 3 steals per game,
while running point.
Memphis Paul, freshman, Athens wrestling: Paul finished the season with a 20-11 record, with 18 pins. She finished third at the District 4 Championships.
Kyah Renzo, freshman, Troy basketball:
Renzo was an off-the-bench weapon for the Trojans, who could play guard
or forward. Her strength, and athleticism made it tough for second
units to handle.
Kalysta DeMark, junior, Notre Dame basketball: DeMark
played varsity for the first time, putting up 12.2 points, 4.2 assists
and 3.1 steals a game. She helped Notre Dame make the playoffs and was a
first-team IAC all-star.
Claire Rollins, sophomore, Candor: A consistent performer for the Coyotes, Rollins averaged 9.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3.2 steals per game.
Teagan Novinger, freshman, Wellsboro basketball: Novinger averaged 6.4 points and 8 rebounds per game in her first varsity season.
Lauren Gillette, junior, S-VE:
A consistent performer, Gillette averaged 8 points, 5 rebounds, 0.9
assists, and 2.5 steals per game. She had one double-double on the
season.
Alexis Nale, freshman, Corning: Nale is a STAC
all-star and sectional champion in Class A in the 100 breaststroke. She
was also a third-place finisher in the 50 free at sectionals.
Lauren Mahon, 8th-grade, Corning: Mahon
posted a 22-8 record with 16 pins and four technical falls. She placed
second at the STAC Championships, and fourth at the Section IV
Championships.
Allie Kemp, freshman, Athens basketball: Possessing a high
basketball IQ, Kemp is very good with the ball in her hands, and is
dangerous from behind the arc. She averaged 6.2 points, 2.3 rebounds,
0.9 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, and canned 22 3-pointers.
