TRACK & FIELD: OWEGO MAKES THE MOST OF CHILLY AND RAINY NIGHT WITH WINS OVER SETON CATHOLIC (2025-04-16)

Tioga County Sports Report
OWEGO - The cold spring hasn't been easy on the track and field teams this season, but Owego powered through once again on Tuesday, defeating both girls' and boys' teams from Seton Catholic.

OFA girls picked up a victory, 99-16, while the boys won their side with a team total of 122.

This event was also Owego's senior night for track, and coach Scott Senko was very proud of his group.

"Before the meet, we honored 21 seniors on this team.  These athletes have contributed to the success of this team for the past four years and have shown tremendous growth," said Senko.

"They are also a great group of leaders who have led by their example to the younger athletes.  They will be missed."

Despite the tough conditions, a few athletes were able to post personal bests. Dylan Davis was a double winner in the shot put and discus, bests in both events. Davis heaved 41-1 in the shot and threw 105-11 in the discus.

"Dylan is really starting to throw well and should be a factor at most invitationals," said Senko.

In the 1600-meters, Gavin Heath and Magavin Allen both ran sub-five minute times. Heath clocked 4:56, while Allen ran 4:57. Javan Belokur was third in the event with 5:07.

"We were hoping for fast times in that race and the boys delivered with several running personal bests," added coach Senko.

Brady Senko won three events on the day for the boys. Senko finished first in the 110 hurdles with 18.4, as well as taking the 400m hurdles with 1:21.9. Senko also won the triple jump, recording 37-4.

Stella Palladino and Jaelyn Chrysler were multiple event winners. Palladino won the 100 and 200-meters, while Chrysler took the 800 and 1500-meters.

Nicole Esworthy won the 100-meter hurdles with 21.1 and Lilly LaFever recorded 12:40 to win the 3000m. Madison McEvoy placed first in the 400m, running 1:06.4, while Logan Georgia won the long jump, leaping 11-3.

The OFA track and field team will not compete again until after the break.

"Our next meet is not until after spring break and we will take advantage of this time to train and heal from some minor injuries," said coach Senko.
