STAC FLAG FOOTBALL: RIVER HAWKS MAKE A STATEMENT WITH 63-6 WIN OVER PREVIOUSLY UNBEATEN NORWICH (2025-04-14)

Tioga County Sports Report
NORWICH - Owego flag football won in impressive fashion on the road Monday, taking down Norwich, 63-6 in a clash of two undefeated teams coming into tonight's game.
Norwich came into the game 6-0 on the season and lead by solid quarterback play, but OFA's defense was ready for the challenge.
"Their QB is a stud, but I thought our defense stepped up to the challenge and played really well," said coach Rusty Virkler.
The OFA defense totaled seven interceptions in the contest. Leah Clark pulled in three picks, while Olivia Dodge and Elizabeth Reigle had two each.
Reigle also had seven flag pulls, while Bella Silvestri totaled six tackles for the day. Dodge and Kylie Craven chipped in three flags pulled each as well.
Offensively, it was a complete team effort for the River Hawks, with everyone doing their job and contributing.
"I felt like all seven players executed play in and play out. Everyone fed off each other and the energy was awesome tonight," added Virkler.
OFA quarterback Kylie Grippen had 18 completions on the night, throwing for 226 yards and five touchdowns.
Ashlyn Dalton racked up 109 receiving yards to go with four total touchdowns. Seniors, Lexi Cheeseman, Olivia Dodge and Lexi Herceg all scored in the game, as well as juniors, Amelia Sherman and Eliana Vasquez.
OFA flag improves to 6-0 and will host Waverly next on April 17th.
