STAC BASEBALL: OFA'S RALLY IN THE SEVENTH COMES UP JUST SHORT IN LOSS TO ONEONTA (2025-04-11)

Tioga County Sports Report
OWEGO - The River Hawks found their bats late in Friday's contest, but came up short in a 6-5 loss to the visiting Oneonta YellowJackets.
Oneonta jumped on the board in the first inning, scoring on an error with two outs. Conlan Taylor got the start for Owego and retired the side in the top of the second.
For the top part of the third, another costly OFA error brought in a run for the YellowJackets, followed by an RBI single to put Oneonta out in front 3-0.
Taylor put away the side again to start the fourth, and Owego broke through with a run in the home half of the inning. Three consecutive walks loaded the bases for OFA. With two outs, Jack Buchsbaum put one in play and Connor Kotski was able to score due to an error by the Oneonta third baseman.
A hit by pitch, along with another walk put two on for the YellowJackets in the fifth. Both runners would score off a single to right field to make it 5-1 in Oneonta's favor. Oneonta plated one more in the top part of the seventh for what seemed at the time like a commanding lead.
For their last at-bat of the evening, Joseph Palladino lead off with a walk for Owego. Elijah Lewis then reached first on an error, advancing Palladino to second. Taylor worked a walk and OFA once again loaded the bases.
Evan English stepped in the box next and hit a base knock to center field, bringing in Palladino. Kotski followed up with another base hit to drive in Lewis. Dylan Brace reached on a third consecutive single to score Taylor.
After back-to-back strikeouts, Buchsbaum worked a walk to bring in English and make it 6-5. The rally fell short, however, as Oneonta pitched a strikeout for the third and final out of the game.
English went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Elijah Lewis, Palladino and Taylor all recorded runs on the evening, while Kotski and Brace each had a base hit to go with an RBI. Buchsbaum drove in a run on the night as well.
Owego moves to 2-2 with the loss and will take the field again on April 14th, when they begin a series with Seton Catholic.
