STAC SOFTBALL: LAUBACH'S WALK-OFF SINGLE WINS THRILLER FOR OFA SOFTBALL (2025-04-09)

Tioga County Sports Report
OWEGO - Miley Laubach laid down a perfect bunt in the bottom of the seventh with the game tied, to score Geneva Crawford and improve the River Hawk's record to 5-0 on the season, with a 6-5 victory over Windsor.

Joslyn Space got the start in the circle for Owego and quickly retired the Black Knights in order to begin the game.

The River Hawks scored five of their six total runs in the bottom of the second. Izzy Coveney and Bella Beams both walked to start the inning and were driven home by a Lauren Kotski triple. Lexi Cheeseman then laid down a sac-bunt to bring in Kotski.

Space would single, and with two outs, reach home on a Carsten Crawford double. Laubach lined a base hit to score Crawford and put Owego ahead 5-0 after two innings of play.

Windsor stormed back immediately in the third with four runs of their own. OFA settled back in though on the mound, retiring the side in order for the top part of the fourth.

The Black Knights tacked on another run in the fifth to tie the game up, and that's where things stayed until the dramatic home half of the seventh.

Geneva Crawford lead off the bottom of the seventh with a pop fly to right field, reaching first on an error. Crawford took advantage of the error, advancing all the way to third.

Carsten Crawford worked a walk in the following at-bat, with Laubach stepping to the plate next. Crawford quickly stole second on the first pitch to Laubach. With Geneva Crawford still on third and the count 2-1, Laubach squared and put down a perfect bunt to score Geneva Crawford and win the game for OFA softball.

"I feel all this emotion. I just knew when I put that bunt down, I was bolting to first and Eva was going to home," Laubach said.

"5-0 on this season already is crazy. This team has worked so hard in practices and games. We just have so much motivation," Laubach added.

When asked about the hot start for the River Hawks, coach Emily Crawford echoed Laubach's excitement.

"With this group of girls, it's exactly how I was hoping it was going to play out," coach Crawford said.

"For Miley to trust me as the coach to be on the same page with her to put that bunt down, that's exactly what relationships are supposed to be about."

Laubach went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Carsten Crawford was 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Kotski added two RBIs and a run as well.

Coveney, Space, Beams, and Geneva Crawford all scored a run, while Cheeseman tallied an RBI.

Space went the first three innings on the mound and Carsten Crawford finished the final four, combining for nine strikeouts.

OFA is at Seton Catholic next on April 14th.
