STAC BASEBALL: OFA BASEBALL DOMINANT ON THE ROAD IN MONDAY'S WIN OVER NORWICH (2025-04-08)

NORWICH - Owego baseball began the week on the winning end, cruising to a 17-2 road victory over the Norwich Purple Tornadoes on Monday.

The River Hawks scored two runs in the first to get things started. Elijah Lewis scored on an error by the catcher and with the bases loaded, Matt Higgins put a ball in play to second base, to score Conlan Taylor. 

Owego plated five runs in the second inning and three more in the third. 

After going scoreless in the fourth and surrendering a run to Norwich in the home half of the fifth, OFA came back with four more runs in the sixth. Mason Grippen singled, then Tyler Lewis knocked a base hit, putting two runners on. 

With two outs, Dylan Brace worked a walk to load the bases. After a pitching change, Payden Morales was hit by a pitch, which scored Grippen. Another walk scored Lewis, before Danny Tavelli stepped to the plate and singled to drive in two more runs.

OFA would score three more in the seventh before the game's end. 

Matt Higgins recorded four RBIs, while Elijah Lewis and Conlan Taylor each scored three runs on Monday afternoon. Morales had two RBIs for the game, with Evan English and Dylan Brace bringing in a run as well. Grippen was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and Tyler Lewis crossed home plate twice as well.

Elijah Lewis went five innings on the mound, allowing only five hits and striking out four. Mathew Lewis logged two innings on the bump, fanning three.

OFA takes the diamond again Thursday against Oneonta.
