STAC SOFTBALL: OWEGO REMAINS UNBEATEN WITH BIG WIN ON THE ROAD AT WINDSOR (2025-04-03)

Tioga County Sports Report
WINDSOR - Geneva Crawford put two over the fence, while Carsten Crawford pitched a complete game in OFA's road win over Windsor, 13-6.

Total team effort is becoming the identity for Owego softball this season. Everyone in the River Hawks lineup reached base again on Thursday afternoon.

"We are showing discipline at the plate and I am really proud of the team choosing good pitches to find base hits," said coach Emily Crawford.

OFA was just as impressive defensively, turning two double plays during Thursday's contest.

"It's always great to see the effort from practices going into our plays during games," coach Crawford said.

Windsor jumped out to the early lead with a run in the first, but Owego came back with three runs in the second. Maia Smith put one in play and reached on an error. Joslyn Space followed with a walk. Both Smith and Space came home on an Izzy Coveney double. Two more walks loaded the bases and Coveney stole home to put OFA ahead 3-1.

The River Hawks broke the game open in the third, plating seven runs in the top half of the inning.

Miley Laubach walked to lead off the inning and Smith reached on an error by the Windsor pitcher. Space stepped into the batter's box next and doubled, driving in Laubach and advancing Smith to third. Ava Leonard put a ground ball down and reached second on an error that also scored Smith and Space. Four more runs would cross the plate in the third, including the first of two home runs from Geneva Crawford.

Windsor refused to give in though, getting three home in the bottom part of the inning, bringing the score to 10-4.

After a scoreless fourth, Geneva Crawford homered again in the fifth. Carsten Crawford followed up with a triple, while Smith and Space each knocked in a run a piece. Windsor answered with a run in the bottom of the inning and would add another in the seventh.

Carsten Crawford pitched a complete game, allowing five earned runs, while fanning eight.

Geneva Crawford went 3-for-4 with two dingers and Coveney also went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Smith, Space and Laubach all reached home on three occasions.

Owego Softball is back on the diamond April 7th at Norwich.
