TIOGA COUNTY SPORTS REPORT: OWEGO'S McEVOY HEADLINES SUPER 7 AS GIRLS 'NEWCOMER OF THE WINTER' (2025-03-29)

TIOGA COUNTY — Freshman Jenna McEvoy made an immediate impact for the River Hawks in her first varsity season. She is the All-Tioga County 2024-25 "Newcomer of the Winter.

McEvoy, a good defender, did a nice job on the boards for her size, distributed the ball well, and consistently knocked down shots from behind the 3-point arc.

She averaged 8.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.9 steals, and 2.9 deflections. She knocked down 33 3-pointers, and took four offensive charges.

Claire Rollins, sophomore, Candor:  A consistent performer for the Coyotes, Rollins averaged 9.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3.2 steals per game.

Gianna Rylott, 8th-grader, Waverly wrestling: Rylott finished the season with a 16-7 record, and placed second at the Section IV Championships. Rylott had nine pints, and two technical falls.

Lauren Gillette, junior, S-VE:  A consistent performer, Gillette averaged 8 points, 5 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and 2.5 steals per game. She had one double-double on the season.

Eva Crawford, 8th-grader, Owego: An emerging force in the paint for the River Hawks, Crawford averaged 4.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 1.9 steals, and 2.4 deflections.

Gianna Zieniuk, 8th-grader, Waverly: Zieniuk was 18-13 on the season, with 12 pins and one technical fall. She placed fourth at the STAC Championships and fourth at the Section IV Championships.

Jaylynne Lovell, junior, Owego: Lovell posted a 14-11 record with 12 pins and two technical falls. She finished third at the STAC Championships.
