Spencer-Van Etten boys' outdoor track and field is rounding the curve and into form for the spring 2025 season.
The boys have won two of the last three IAC Small School championships and will return 13 athletes this season. Seven newcomers also fill out the roster for this season.
Seniors, Karson Kenville in the 110m hurdles and 4x100m relay, and Edward Rixford running the 1600m, 800m, and steeplechase return this spring.
More key veterans include Zachary Paucke competing in the 100m dash, 4x100m relay, and long jump. Senior, Dylan Rosa-Collazo in the pole vault and 4x100m relay.
Chase Whitmarsh should provide success with the discus and shot put events, as well as Ethan Drake competing in pole vault. Keep an eye on eighth grader Gabe Benjamin as well, running the 800 and 1600 meters.
Coach Ryan Holmes is likely to rely on long distance races as a strength for 2025.
"Our success has been most greatly impacted by the hard work and dedication of our long-distance program, so that definitely comes to mind as a team strength," said Holmes.
"I believe we will be very competitive on the track this season in most of the running events. We have good athletes in each race and will need to have good results on the track to make up for our lack of experience in the field."
For this year's SVE Panthers the outdoor goals remain the same, and that's to go after the IAC South division and championships.
"Our program goals are always to win the IAC Small School South Division as well as IAC Championships. Our division is going to be very competitive this season. We have had very close battles the last few years against Newfield, Odessa, and Tioga and I am sure all three will be tough once again," Holmes said.
"As always, my expectations are to help each individual athlete improve, which I believe most greatly influences team results and success."
SVE outdoor begins the regular season on their home track. Hosting Candor, Odessa-Montour, Marathon, and Moravia on March 31st.
