CANDOR - Coyotes' boys' golf is coming off a successful 2024 where they finished 8-4 and fully expect to be in the mix this spring, returning everybody but one from last year's team.
Four-year starters, Tyler Greeno and Noah Banks are back to lead the team in their senior season.
"These two have been a constant, positive presence on our team for years," said head coach Kevin Jester. "They set an example with their work ethic, and their commitment to get better. Both players have spent countless hours outside our season to improve their game."
Two more seniors that will be key factors this season are seniors, Kody Floyd and Max Fey. The two finished third and fourth in stroke average at the end of last spring.
Underclassmen looking to get in the mix are sophomore Jak Smith and freshman, Brennan Zimmer. Smith and Zimmer both finished in the top six last season. This year though, coach Jester believes nine or 10 athletes will compete for those top six spots that make up a match.
Team members Tyler Dunham, Stanley Winnick and freshman, Oscar Valdez Cole are some of the names also vying for those spots.
"Anytime you have competition within the team, it improves their play, which a coach always likes," Jester commented.
"I am looking forward to this season not just to see Tyler G. and Noah excel, but to see all the players improve their game, and make our team and program more successful."
Newcomers in 2025 for the Coyotes will be sophomore Zach Hillman, freshman Hunter Cody, and two seventh graders, Eddie Evans and Ben Schechter.
Candor boys's golf opens the season at Groton on April 8th.
