While the weather is taking it's time to come around this spring, the Candor girls' golf team is more than ready to get their inaugural season started.

2025 will be Candor's first year having it's own girls' golf team after having merged with Spencer-Van Etten in years prior. Nine girls have come out for the team this spring with six of them being newcomers and three returning from last year's SVEC team.

"The returning three players have been able to step into leadership roles and help the more inexperienced players which has been nice to see.  As a coach I am encouraged about the enthusiasm the girls bring to practice everyday and eagerness to improve," head coach Jason Banks said.

Returning in 2025 are Gwen Shaw, Emma Veasey and Tessa White. Candor girls' newcomers to the squad will be juniors, Jillian Teribury, Emma Stetler and Lydia Kunte. Also joining this spring's team are freshman, Emma Fey and Kaedyn Everhart and 7th grader, Cecilia Kern.

As far as strengths going into the golf calendar, Candor has an eagerness for growth.

"Our team strength is our willingness to learn the game and excitement that each player brings each day.  As this is our first year as a team our goal is to continue to grow and develop as a program that can compete with the established programs in the section," said Banks.

Candor hits the tee box for their first match on April 9th at Shepard Hills in Waverly, NY.
