COLLEGE CROWD: NV GRAD HOFFMIER STARTS 2019 STRONG (2019-01-21)

OSWEGO, N.Y. - Oswego State senior Trevor Hoffmier has started off 2019 winning five of six matches.

At the Budd Whitehill Division III Duals held Jan. 11-12, the Newark Valley grad went 4-1 with a first-period fall, a major decision and two decisions. He suffered one loss, a 4-1 overtime tie-breaker to Wilkes College's Nicholas Racanelli, ranked fourth nationally in Division III. Racanelli recorded his 100th collegiate victory in his second match of a 5-win weekend.

Oswego defeated Williams, 33-16, and Southern Virginia 39-6. The Lakers fell to No. 13 York, 31-11, No. 24 Messiah College, 30-15, and Wilkes University, 34-6.

On Wednesday, Hoffmier edged Brockport's Jackson Bell, an Owego grad, 2-0, in a 28-12 Oswego loss. He is currently 10-2 on the season.

The Lakers are scheduled to wrestle Castleton University (Vermont) Friday and Trinity College (Connecticut) Saturday.
