MARATHON, N.Y. - For the second straight game, S-VE struggled with its shooting, suffering a 49-48 IAC crossover loss to Marathon here Friday. The Panthers hit just 22 percent of their 2-point field goals attempts and 30 percent of their 3-point tries.

S-VE got off to a solid start, outscoring the Olympians 16-7 in the first quarter and still led at the half, 29-22.

Marathon would limit the Panthers to nine third-quarter points, cutting the lead to 38-33.

The Olympians' Owen Hoyt connected for four 3-pointers to lead all scorers with 17 points.

Nathan Mack paced S-VE with 15 points, going 9-for-12 at the free throw line in the process. He also pulled down eight rebounds.

James Sutherlin contributed 13 points, leading the first-quarter charge with eight. He also grabbed six steals on the night.

Noah Mack chipped in with 12 points, three assists and three steals.

Ben VanGalder handed out three assists and Matthew Byrne snagged four steals.

S-VE (10-2) visits Southern Cayuga Tuesday for another crossover game.
