IAC BOWLING: CANDOR GIRLS MAINTAIN DIVISON LEAD WITH SWEEP (2019-01-17)
Tioga County Sports ReportCANDOR - Needing a sweep to maintain its 3-point lead over Odessa-Montour in the IAC Small School division, the Indians rolled past Groton, 4-0, at Owego Bowl Thursday.
Groton won the boys match, 4-0.
GIRLSWhile O-M was sweeping Tioga, Candor was winning by scores of 598-541, 734-564 and 691-574, and taking the total pinfall, 2023-1679. The victory gives Candor a 37-11 record, leading O-M (34-14).
May Marsh led the way with a 181-461 and Alexis Karabec had a 164-418. Sarah Emond shot 143-390, Kaitlyn Johnston had a 137-373, Olivia Bennett scored a 126-337 and Andrea Barrett contributed a 145-323.
Madison Parker was Groton's top bowler with 146-388.
BOYSGroton won by scores of 780-650, 896-638 and 739-643, and took total pinfall, 2415-1931.
Mason Hill led the visitors with a 236-528.
For Candor, Matt Fitch rolled a 155-405 and Devin Benesh chipped in with a 149-399. Carson Howe had a 139-387, Garrett Lindhorst scored 179-376, Ethan Howe had a 123-356 and Storm Andrews added a 121 game.
Candor hosts Marathon today.
